Sydney Rowing Club is the oldest rowing club in New South Wales, Australia. As of the 2008 Olympic Games, rowers from the club had competed at the Olympic Games on 93 occasions [1]
Membership of the club was male-only until 1993, when the Club decided that it would allow women to become members.
Notable past members include sculler Edward Trickett, who was the first Australian to be declared world champion in any sport by winning the World Sculling Championship on 27 June 1876, and Merv Wood, who competed at four Olympics winning one gold, one silver and one bronze medal, and carried the Australian flag at two Olympic Games[2].
